Sawbridgeworth Town maintained their unbeaten Essex Senior League start to the season with a 3-3 home draw against Clapton.
The match was a good advertisement for the division, but the Robins will be disappointed to have drawn after leading 3-1 at the break.
Clapton opened strongly and laid siege to the Sawbridgeworth goal, forcing five corners. It was from the fifth that Mendez Gomez opened the scoring, netting from close range at the far post in the seventh minute.
The Robins got their act together and, after a period of pressure, Jason Todd equalised with a shot from just outside the area in the 15th minute.
The home side took the lead in the 41st minute when Mitchell Das scored with a spectacular goal from a narrow angle.
Sawbridgeworth went further ahead two minutes later when George Wappett dribbled into the Clapton area, lost the ball and regained it to shoot home from eight yards.
The second half saw a determined fightback by the visitors. Quentin Monville and Shotazi Barnwell had shots saved by Carl Blackman.
Clapton pulled one back in the 77th minute following a penalty. Dan Hammett mistimed his tackle on Barnwell and Warren Metolaz had his spot-kick saved by Blackman, but he followed up to put the rebound in the net.
A lob into the Sawbridgeworth box was not cleared properly and it was Metolaz who equalised in the 81st minute.
