Clapton FC 0 – 0 Ilford FC
Honours finished even once again between Allan Fenn’s Ilford and his former club Clapton.
The two sides had shared six goals at the Old Spotted Dog in front of a whopping 750-plus crowd on Non-League Day last October and there was no separating them again in the return at Cricklefield.
ons keeper Pape Diagne was called upon to make a couple of impressive saves in the first half to keep the Foxes out, in front of another three-figure crowd, as Ilford remain in sixth place and Clapton close behind in eighth.
Tons assistant manager Andre Thomas tweeted: “Point well earned. Pape was in inspired form & deserved his clean sheet. Think we used up all of the goals at the Old Spotted Dog in the reverse game.”
The Tons travel to Leslie Field’s tonight (Tuesday) before going back there again on Saturday for the second meeting between the teams in the space of a few days.
