Game Report

FC Romania 2 – 0 Clapton FC

Clapton FC put up a fight against the leaders at Theobalds Lane, but came away with nothing to show for their efforts.

Tons travelled to Hertfordshire in good spirits having won five of their previous six matches, but they fell behind when Adrian Cososchi netted on 24 minutes.

The match remained in the balance, though, until 10 minutes from time when Ionut Ungureanu doubled FC Romania’s tally and the victory keeps them one point clear of Basildon United at the top of the table.

Clapton remain in seventh place, with four matches left to play, and welcome title hopefuls Bowers to the Old Spotted Dog on Tuesday.

Clapton coach Andre Thomas tweeted: “Good performance from the boys. They definitely matched the league leaders stride for stride. FC Romania were just clincial.”

Official Clapton added: “The scoreline doesn’t tell the full story. It was a superb performance from the boys.

“On another day it could have been so different. We just hope that the other day is Tuesday at home vs Bowers & Pitsea.

“Big thank you to the travelling @ClaptonUltras. As usual, they were superb.”
