Clapton FC 4 Barking 0
Barking’s new manager Glen Golby had a debut in charge of the club to forget after watching his side lose 4-0 at Clapton in the Essex Senior League Challenge Cup last night (Tuesday).
The clash at the Old Spotted Dog was always going to be an interesting one with the Tons in excellent form and Golby taking charge for the first time after Blues boss Mick O’Shea ended his reign on Saturday after revealing the news a couple of weeks ago.
Welshman Emyr put Michael Walther’s side ahead during the first half and that was how it remained at the break in front of the 123 in attendance.
Shomari Barnwell doubled the host’s advantage with a strike early on in the second period before Barking were awarded a penalty and a chance to get back into the game.
Fortunately for the Tons it couldn’t be taken with Pepe Diagne saving the effort and Clapton would punish their rivals further later.
Barnwell scored his second before Tom Webb struck his second for the club to conclude an excellent night for the home side. (Shomari penalty – https://vine.co/v/e99OwKWnw6B)
They will face either Burnham Ramblers or Enfield in the quarter-finals of the competition and will be confident of reaching the final again after their four-goal triumph.
