Clapton 0 – 0 Barking
Both sides lacked bite, with most of the action consigned to the middle third of a bumpy pitch.
Tons went close early on, before Ben O’Brien sent Barking’s first chance wide on 20 minutes.
Wayne Baker had to be alert to keep out a bobbling shot, using his feet to save, before Ryan Creed had a shot deflected wide at the other end.
Liddiard had the best chance of the half just before half time but Tons keeper Pape Diagne was relieved to see the ball crash off a post.
Diagne saved from Luke Stanley soon after the restart and he also denied Lindispho Mtyanda, but Tons saw a header go just over on 63 minutes.
Diagne tipped a Mtyanda free-kick over the bar soon after but chances were at a premium after that as Barking’s back four of Brad Ling, Glen Golby, Steve Willis and James Barlow held firm.
Clapton turn their attentions to the Gordon Brasted Trophy on Tuesday, when they welcome London Bari to the Dog.
